The 19th International Sand Sculpture Festival will take place on May 17 on the Pasta (Post) Island in Jelgava. This year’s theme is “Mythical Creatures”, offering visitors a chance to explore legendary beings and experience a world of magic and fantasy through impressive sand sculptures created by artists from various countries.
Ticket sales have already begun, and tickets are available at a discounted price in pre-sale until May 5 at Biļešu Paradīze ticket offices, at the Jelgava House of Culture box office, and online.
Festival program
The festival will be officially opened on May 17 from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, featuring a diverse and engaging program.
- Daytime Activities: The first half of the day will offer entertainment for families with children. A special musical performance, “Drošības Festivāls”, will feature the vocal studio “Knīpas un Knauķi” and Artūrs Gruzdiņš. Additionally, Ričijs Rū and Lauris Reiniks will take the audience on an exciting journey to Africa.
- Evening Concert: In the “Mītava” open-air concert hall, the festival will kick off the summer season with a powerful musical lineup. Performers include:
- “Riga Reggae” – a Latvian reggae band;
- “The Roop” – an energetic group from Lithuania;
- “Bermudu Divstūris” – bringing the ultimate party vibes.

Pre-sale tickets until May 5 (included):
- Adults: €10.00
- Students, seniors, and persons with disabilities: €5.00
- Family ticket (2 adults + 2 children or 1 adult + 3 children) / “3+ Family Card”: €20.00
- Ticket with Sand Festival Coupon (published in Jelgavas Vēstnesis in April) or with a Jelgava Resident Card (available only at Jelgava House of Culture): €7.00
- Jelgava pupils (with a Jelgava student ID cards, available only at Jelgava House of Culture): €4.00
- Children under 7 years old: Free entry
Tickets from May 6 to May 17:
- Adults: €15.00
- Students, seniors, and persons with disabilities: €7.00
- Family ticket / “3+ Family Card”: €30.00
Accessibility and Special Offers:
- Free entry for individuals with Group I disability (with disability ID) and for children under 18 with a disability (without an accompanying person).
- Discounted ticket (€7.00) for:
