The Ambassador of Georgian Explores Jelgava and its Educational Opportunities

On April 24th, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Georgia to Latvia, Irakli Kurashvili, along with his advisor Mikheil Sulaberidze, visited Jelgava on an official visit, to get acquainted with the city and discuss further cooperation.

At the beginning of the visit, the ambassador met with the Mayor of Jelgava, Andris Rāviņš. The guests were introduced to the city and its development, and future plans were discussed. Continuing the visit, the guests visited the tower of the Jelgava Holy Trinity Church, where they learned about the history of Jelgava.

 

Ambassador Irakli Kurashvili visited the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies, where he met with the university’s scientific pro-rector Irina Arhipova, the head of the university’s International Cooperation Center Mārtiņš Šabovics, and a student from Georgia, Lizi Keleptrishvili, who is currently studying information technology at the university in Jelgava under the “Erasmus+” program.

 

At the end of the visit, the ambassador and his advisor visited the reconstructed Jelgava Technical Secondary School, where they learned about the educational institution’s opportunities, vision, and daily work. The school’s director, Baiba Balode-Lukjanska, introduced them to the school’s main values, principles of operation, and how the school collaborates with parents and the municipality.
