On Saturday, June 19, at 8.30 pm, cellist Maksims Beitāns and guitarist Andijs Rožkalns invite you to a musical walk “Dream of a Summer Night” in the western wing of Jelgava Castle to spend the evening in a romantic summer mood.

At a time when concerts in their usual sense are still not possible, the association “Children and Youth Music Club” is implementing a project that brings music to people in the urban environment. Everyone who wants to spend the evening in a romantic mood, enjoying a quality and musically valuable performance is invited to enjoy a musical walk on Saturday evening. The organizers point out that the musical evening outdoors will also be suitable for children.

 

The musical walk “Dream of a Summer Night” in the cello and guitar duo of M.Beitāns and E.Rožkalns will feature works by F.Shubert, Heitor Villa-Lobus, A.Corelli, J.Sibelius, E.Morricone, A.Piazzolla, as well as the listeners’ favorite russian romances. Many of the compositions for cello and guitar have been created by the musicians themselves.

 

Cellist M.Beitāns from Jelgava is the winner of 15 international competitions, winner of five Grand Prix, owner of state and international awards. He has performed on the best Latvian stages, in prestigious concert halls in Switzerland, the USA, Russia, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, France and many other countries.

 

M.Beitāns as a soloist has collaborated with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, “Sinfonietta Riga”, Evian Festival Orchestra, Latvian National Opera Orchestra and Choirs, Swiss Chamber Orchestra, Lithuanian Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal College of Music Orchestra, Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and many other orchestras. The cellist has performed on world-famous stages at important cultural events.

 

E.Rožkalns is a teacher of classical guitar playing, he founded the “Private Music School “BJMK Rokskola “”, the organizer of the competition “Latvian Guitarist of the Year”, the leader of master classes for guitar playing teachers. Makes compositions and arrangements. He has come a long way in the world of music, starting with wind instruments and choral conducting, continuing with academic singing, until he came to classical guitar as his real instrument.

 

M.Beitāns and E.Rožkalns have been performing in a joint duo since 2018.

 

It should be noted that the co-financing obtained in the project competition of the Culture Council of Jelgava City Municipality has been attracted for the implementation of this project.
