From February 7 to 9, 2025, Jelgava will traditionally become a kingdom of ice sculptures – the city will host the 26th International Ice Sculpture Festival. Preparations for the event have already begun, and sculptors can apply until November 19.

The event organizers, the municipal institution “Culture,” point out that this time, the participants of the Ice Sculpture Festival and every visitor will become part of a magical journey where imagination meets space, and the ethereal beauty of dreams transcends the boundaries of reality. This year’s ice sculpture competition will invite artists to explore the theme “The Story of the Universe,” embodying the wonders of space and revealing the mysteries of planets in the glitter of ice. Each sculpture will take viewers on a journey through the cosmos, sparking reflections on our hopes, dreams, and the stars.

It should be noted that the jury will select sculptors who will have the opportunity to realize their sketches in ice. The selected artists will create their works in Jelgava’s urban environment from February 1 to 7, 2025, when the festival’s opening will take place, and visitors will be able to appreciate the sculptors’ work from February 7 to 9.

Sculptors can submit their sketch projects on the website festivali.jelgava.lv until November 19. The festival’s regulations are also available there.
