Jelgava City Turns 760! A Visual Identity for the Anniversary Year Has Been Created
02/01/2025

The year 2025 marks Jelgava City’s 760th birthday! To highlight the significance of this celebration, a visual identity and guidelines for the 760th anniversary have been developed. The main elements of the logo include the name of Jelgava State City, the symbolic combination of the anniversary year’s numbers transitioning into the city’s silhouette, and the city’s founding year. Let’s take pride in our city and create a festive atmosphere together!

The logo design for the anniversary identity features the number 760 as the central element. It incorporates vibrant colors symbolizing Jelgava’s dynamic and diverse character, bringing a festive joy to our city while showcasing how varied we, the people of Jelgava, are and how rich our traditions are. Additionally, the inscription “Jelgava ANNO 1265” highlights the city’s founding year, emphasizing its long and significant historical journey.

As part of the upcoming festive decorations in the urban environment and the overall visual concept for the celebration, six greeting banners will be placed at various entry points into the city. Each of them will proudly feature Latvia’s largest animal and the symbol of Jelgava – the moose. Acting as the herald of the festivities, the moose majestically carries vibrancy and festive sparkle into the city on its impressive antlers.

It is up to each of us to make this city’s anniversary year truly special, showing our connection to Jelgava. The highlight of the anniversary year – the city’s birthday – traditionally celebrated at the end of May, is a time for patriotism, pride, and togetherness. These shared celebrations unite us and reaffirm: We are Jelgava!

To create a cohesive identity for the anniversary year’s events and to foster a festive atmosphere, municipal institutions, businesses, associations, and organizations are encouraged to incorporate Jelgava’s anniversary symbolism into their souvenirs and materials. Materials for approval must be submitted to the email address marketings@jelgava.lv. Approval is required to ensure the consistent use of the logo and to prevent its improper application.
