This week, Jelgava has been decorated for Easter. This year, new colorful decorations have been added – bright butterflies that look like they are “flying” in Duke Jēkabs Square and along Vecpilsētas Street.

The butterflies are made from aluminum with colorful plastic wings that let light through. In Duke Jēkabs Square, you’ll find three benches with butterfly wings and 13 butterflies decorating the lamp posts. You can also see butterflies continues along Vecpilsētas Street.

Meanwhile, on Pasta (Post) Island, you’ll find large stained-glass-style Easter eggs in different sizes. A bunny figure and eggs have been placed along Loka Magistrāle, and colorful eggs with nests can be seen on Dobeles Highway, Satiksmes Street, Lietuvas Highway, and Kalnciema Road. In Raiņa Park, there are 10 decorations with small, colorful eggs.

As Jelgava prepares to celebrate its 760th birthday, two festive photo frames have already been installed for Easter – one on Driksas Street and one near Ozolskvērs Park. Flag decorations with the city’s anniversary theme have been placed on Jānis Čakste Boulevard and at the Pasta (Post) Street roundabout.
