Today, participants of the camp “Jelgava – Mītava” – 29 children and young people, along with five accompanying teachers from the sister city Ivano-Frankivsk in Ukraine – met with the city leadership at the Jelgava City Council.

This week, Jelgava Primary School “Valdeka” Development Centre is hosting the second group of children and young people from our sister city – orphans of fallen defenders in the Ukraine war, and children and young people from Ukrainian soldiers’ families. This group will also stay in Jelgava for two weeks. This camp offers the children a chance to momentarily forget their hardships and experience positive emotions.

A two-week program has been prepared for the children and young people from Ivano-Frankivsk, allowing our friends to get to know Jelgava by visiting the city’s tourist attractions, as well as exploring Latvia, with visits to Tērvete Nature Park and other locations. The camp participants will also have the excellent opportunity to take part in various masterclasses – in decoupage, painting, candle making, and more.

The camps in our city are made possible thanks to the support of entrepreneurs. Companies that responded to the municipality’s call to participate in providing the camp include SIA “Evopipes”, SIA “Gren Jelgava”, “VAKS Cooperative Society”, SIA “AKG Thermotechnik Lettland”, SIA “Zn Metals”, SIA “Road Construction Company “Igate””, SIA “RIMI Latvia”, and SIA “Lidl Latvia”.
