An informational material “Jelgava in Numbers 2023” has been prepared and published on the municipality’s website. It has undergone a visual update, aligning with the design of the Jelgava municipality’s public report from last year. The material includes key figures and facts about the city’s population, employment, economy, transportation, education, social services, healthcare, culture, tourism, sports, as well as attracted investments and the Jelgava municipality’s budget resources and expenditures.

Various types of municipal social assistance were provided to 2,175 residents in 2023. These and other facts about the social sector, including the distribution of benefits by type and target groups, as well as assistance to Ukrainian civilians, can be found in the informational report section “Social Sector and Healthcare.” The section also includes information about the number of doctors in the city, as well as facts about healthcare. For example, last year, 42 family doctors were practicing in Jelgava, with 1,566 patients registered with each family doctor.

In the transportation sector, facts and figures are provided regarding the funds invested in street reconstruction in Jelgava, the number of vehicles by energy source type, traffic accidents, as well as the number of violations detected by video cameras. Statistics from the Jelgava municipal police reveal that last year, 430 video surveillance cameras were operating in the city, recording 2,094 violations.

In the fields of culture, tourism, and sports, information is available about cultural events and their attendance, the number of overnight stays in accommodations, requests for tourism information by residents’ origins, visited tourist sites, as well as sports events and sports club activities. For example, the most visited tourist sites in the city last year were the Lielupe floodplain meadows, the Holy Trinity Church tower, and the Ģederts Eliass Jelgava History and Art Museum. The most active involvement by Jelgava residents was in sports such as swimming, football, and hockey.
