From February 2nd to 4th, the 25th anniversary International Ice Sculpture Festival will take place in Jelgava, Latvia, at Jānis Čakste Boulevard, Pasta Island, and the open-air concert hall “Mītava.” This year, 32 professional sculptors from 11 countries – Ukraine, Indonesia, Argentina, Latvia, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Czech Republic, Mongolia, the United Kingdom, and Spain – will showcase their unique perspectives on global treasures through ice sculpture. The festival will feature the creation of 45 competition sculptures, with a total of over 60 ice objects on display. Ticket sales for the festival have begun at the Jelgava Cultural Center and “Biļešu paradīze.”
The municipal institution “Kultūra” informs that on February 2nd, the festival grounds will be open from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM when the festival will be ceremoniously opened. Winners of the competition will be awarded, visitors can witness a fireworks show, sculpture creation demonstrations, and performances by “Triānas parks” and “Musiqq.”
On February 3rd and 4th, the entrance to the festival will be from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. On these days, visitors can observe the transformation of ice into art through exciting sculpture creation demonstrations and duels.
On February 3rd, during the first half of the day, children will be entertained with captivating performances by Adolf Alunāns Jelgava Theatre, the traveling circus “Beztemata” from Liepāja, and SIA “Jogitas pasākumi.” In the evening, the stage will be graced by local and Lithuanian music stars – “Latgalīšu reps,” “AC/DC project” (Lithuania), and Aija Andrejeva.
On February 4th, visitors can expect fun family-friendly shows from Jelgava’s New Theater, the traveling circus “Beztemata,” and “Jogitas pasākumi.” The evening program will feature popular local music groups “Patrisha,” “Labvēlīgais tips,” and guests from Lithuania – “Jonis.”
Ticket prices until February 1st: Adults – €10, students, seniors, and disabled – €5, family ticket (2 adults + 2 children or 1 adult + 3 children) or “3+ Family Card” – €20, with the January 23rd “Jelgavas Vēstnesis” Ice Festival coupon or showing the Jelgava resident card – €7 (only at the Jelgava Cultural Center), showing the Jelgava student ID – €4 (only at the Jelgava Cultural Center). Children up to 7 years old enter for free.
Ticket prices during the festival from February 2nd to 4th: Adults – €15, students, seniors, and disabled – €7, family ticket (2 adults + 2 children or 1 adult + 3 children) or “3+ Family Card” – €30. Children up to 7 years old enter for free.
Upon purchasing a ticket, it will be valid for any of the event dates for a single entry. Re-entry to the festival grounds is possible only within one day, showing the control badge.
