For several years now Jelgava city has been showing high results the FDi Intelligence division of the Financial Times ranking as European Cities and Regions of the Future. Jelgava was ranked in 9th place of the FDi’s European Cities and Regions of the Future 2020/21 ranking in category FDI Strategy, showing city’s foreign direct investment opportunities and strategies.

The Financial Times is one of the world’s leading news organizations, internationally recognized for its authority, integrity and accuracy. FDI Intelligence is a division of the Financial Times, which provides the world’s largest portfolio of foreign direct investment services promoting investment attraction and economic development solutions by offering FDI data tools, research and competitor analysis, events, multimedia and editorial services.

The FDi Intelligence division of the Financial Times collected data for more than 500 locations under five categories: Economic Potential, Human Capital and Lifestyle, Cost Effectiveness, Connectivity and Business Friendliness, therefor under sixth category FDI Strategy, for which there were 161 submissions. Each applicant submitted an application answering more than 10 questions related to investment opportunities and their attraction. Cities and regions were not only ranked according to the answers they submitted, but also categorized by area and population.

The award ceremony will take place at the World’s Leading Real Estate Market Conference in Cannes, France this March.
