Holiday activities canceled; cultural events postponed

Due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus Covid 19 in Europe and the declaration of emergency situation, public measures have been cancelled in Latvia, including in Jelgava, from March 13. Cultural and leisure events have been canceled, as well as the reunion of Jelgava High School No. 4 planned on March 14. As far as possible, this and other measures will be rescheduled after the end of the emergency situation in the state.

Events, performances and concerts in Jelgava Culture House and Culture House “Rota” are cancelled until April 14. Events also canceled by Jelgava City Library and its branches – Pārlielupe and Miezīte Library, Jelgava Exhibition of Latvian Railway History Museum, Tourism information center, University of Life Science and Technologies. Public events have also been canceled at the Jelgava History and Art Museum of Ģederts Eliass, but the museum is still open. Jelgava Holy Trinity Church Tower is open for visitors.

Since March 14 all organized public events have been banned, while no more than 50 people should be gathered at non-organized events. Due to this prohibition, gatherings for public worship are also prohibited.
