On 31st of August in Jelgava a number of entertaining, educational and attractive events will take place in different locations throughout the city. Local townspeople as well as city guests can choose to visit their favorite events.

The 19th Milk, Bread and Honey Festival will be held at the Duke Jacob’s Square. The gourmands will have the opportunity not only to buy products, but also to participate in tastings and fancy culinary contests:

• The Honey contest “Latvia’s most recognized honey 2019”;
• The Bread contest “Healthy bread for modern consumer in Semi Gallia 2019”;
• Contest “Eat bread and be active”.

During the Festival, the competition of “Latvia’s most powerful city” series will take place. The title will be awarded to the city which’s representatives are able to raise the highest weight in three hours. After stage in Jelgava, the competition will be held in Sigulda and Dobele, and only on 5th October it will be decided which city wins the series and the title of the strongest.

Also the young inhabitants of Jelgava will be solemnly greeted during the “We are welcome, we are coming” event.

The 3rd Festival of Wellbeing “ESI” will educate the visitors on healthy lifestyle in the square behind the Cultural House. Everyone will have an opportunity to explore healthy lifestyle with the help of more than 30 educational lessons and activities. Everyone is welcome to participate in the festival, regardless of the age and interests, the whole area of the event will be divided into different areas: “Be observant” – health tests; “Be strong” – training lessons; “Be a family” – educational lectures; “Be knowledgeable”; “Be senior”; “Be tasty”; “Be in center”; “Be in move”; “Be in the air”; “Be a child”

This year the most entertaining, courageous and creative event 17th “Baltais” Milk Pack Boat Regatta is held in river Driksa. The new location of the event will be challenging for the race participants, as well as a great opportunity for supporters to appreciate the unique watercraft even closer. The main spot of the event will be Pasta (Post) Island, where everyone will be greeted by “real” underwater kingdom – Neptune, Mermaid Beach, Milk Pack Palace and many other exciting marine inhabitants and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

There will also be variety of sports activities during the festival – 3×3 Basketball tournament in the parking place of Pasta (Post) Island; 2nd stage of Jelgava City Open beach volleyball tournament by the Cultural House, however from 9.30 a.m. the best SUP rowers will be fighting for the title of Latvian champion.

The day events will be concluded by the Foam party, 17th “Baltais” Milk Pack Boat Regatta winner’s award and dance party in open-air concert hall “Mītava” in Pasta (Post) Island.
